This may vary depending on individual circumstances, such as illness or monitoring of basal body temperature. Additional Tips: 1. Do not bite the thermometer. 2. Do not drop the thermometer. 3. Keep the thermometer out of reach of children when not in use. 4. For accurate readings, wait at least 15 minutes after eating, drinking, or smoking before taking oral temperature. 5. Axillary readings may be slightly lower than oral or rectal readings. 6. Rectal readings are generally considered the most accurate, but should only be used for infants and small children when other methods are not feasible. 7. Consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns about your temperature or how to use the thermometer.
